UM-D Hockey loses two against Ohio

The Wolves hockey team got swept last weekend in two very competitive games with the #4 ranked Ohio Bobcats.
After a successful weekend against Kent State, the University of Michigan-Dearborn hockey team was on a high, and feeling pretty good about themselves. Practices were going well, and all seemed set to knock off Ohio University.
During the week, the University suspended Head Coach Dave Debol from the team for the week. The move is in relation to Ian Barnaby's suspension from last week. Not much is known about the issue, but Assistant Coach Don Massey assures it is a, "…non-issue." It doesn't seem too serious, as Debol will be back with the team this week. Massey would be the acting head coach for the weekend series.
The team was back to full-health for the game, with John Vella back in the lineup, which is currently in the process of being shuffled around. Scoring has been on a downward trend, and the coaches have been trying new line combinations, looking for a few sparks.
Friday's game started out exactly how it was billed, as a goaltending duel. It was a battle of the Pauls, as Ohio's senior all-star Paul Marshall went "crease-to-crease" against Michigan-Dearborn's, freshman Paul Petrous. Marshall's resumé is quite vast, including multiple all-star game appearances, and a trip to the World University Games, in China, earlier this year. Petrous' resumé is quite short with a career highlight coming a week earlier in the shutout win over Kent State.
The game remained scoreless until the Wolves got on the powerplay, and with just under six minutes left in the period, Michael Macari got a shot off, and netted the first goal of the game. Sophomore Kyle Papke and senior captain Anthony Rini assisted on the goal. At the 16:38 mark of the period, sophomores Matt McCaig and Bobby Steele set up junior assistant captain Shawn Wilson for his 11th goal of the season. They took a 2-0 lead to the intermission.
