The University of Michigan-Dearborn's volleyball season is coming to a close but the Wolves still have one more chance to squeeze in a conference win, pushing their conference record to 2-11.

The Wolves have had a rough year on the court with a record of 7-23 overall as of press time. The team is winding down the season with only four games left, one of which is a conference game.

On October 20, the team went up against Cornerstone University for the second time this season. The first set was an excellent set with both teams keeping the score within three points of each other until the very end. Junior Courtney Provencher brought in three of the first five points for the Wolves. Although the Wolves played well, several points came from faults on Cornerstone's part; either not getting the ball over in three hits, hitting the net, and even one play when a Cornerstone a player caught the ball instead of hitting it back over the net. The Wolves fought hard with several long volleys that had the crowd cheering and almost on their feet. In the end, Cornerstone won over 20-25.

The second set was a hard set for the Wolves. The team constantly cheered each other on and stayed positive, no matter how far behind they fell. Senior Candace McPherson and Freshman Sarah Gauer each brought in a few points each, but once again Cornerstone proved to be the better team, ending the set 13-25.

The Wolves from set one bounced back to the court for set three, for the second time in a game never letting the score veer more than three points from each other. The Wolves knew it was their last attempt to go into extra sets for a possible win of the game. Gauer, McPherson, and Provencher all helped the Wolves by a few points each this set. McPherson tied the set up 12-12 with an excellent spike down on Cornerstone. Provencher came up with the last point for Dearborn, but Cornerstone pulled ahead once again leaving the final score 22-25 and a 0-3 lose overall.

The numbers roll in this week with Provencher with 2.4 kills per game, Sophomore Michelle Porada with 3.4 digs per game, and Junior Kristen Heator with 5.6 assists per game.

The Wolves play tonight in Fort Wayne, Indiana against Indiana Institute of Technology and Friday in Huntington, Indiana against Huntington University. They will be back at home November 3, looking for their last chance at a conference win against Siena Heights University
