Day 26 returns with even more heat and bass to rule the music charts with "Forever in a Day." The album is approximately an hour of club bangers, sprinkled with a few ballads, and all-star appearances.
Several artists came together to add their talent to this album. Guest appearances are made by T-Pain, Jermaine Dupri, Jazze Pha, Yung Joc, and of course, Bad Boy creator P. Diddy. Bryan-Michael Cox also returns as producer to help the band create this impressive sophomore album.
The first single "Imma Put it On Her" combines high bass, clapping beat, and displays the wide vocal range of the band's voices. Diddy and Yung Joc make appearances on the track. "Imma Put it On Her" is upbeat and an instant dance track. The track encompasses the more ballad and dance feel of "Got Me Going" in that it's much more dance driven.
There are so many other great tracks to pluck from this album. "Just Getting Started" is a booming bass track and the perfect intro to the dance album. "Stadium Music" is another track that commands you to dance and sing along to every catchy vocal.
Day 26 throws in a few ballads and slow ones in the album as well. "Perfectly Blind" is a slow tempo groove that is a very smooth contrast to the rest of the dance tracks on the album. "So Good" follows the same recipe but implements sexier lyrics and vocals from the band.
"Think of Me" has a cool, synthesized sound for a rhythmic, laid-back love song. The track displays the softer side of the band.
Overall, the album is definitely sure to keep you dancing and moving from beginning to end. The sounds are fresh and very bass and dance driven. "Forever In a Day" makes Day 26 a contender in the R&B world. They are a mixture of 112 and Jagged Edge with the twist of being created on reality television.
Day 26 manages to avoid falling victim to a sophomore slump with their latest album. It's hard to imagine that they debuted in 2008 behind the success of the once platinum, selling Danity Kane. But the question still reamains: will they fall to the same demise as the once successful girl group? Is all the fighting just a means for creative energy? It's hard to say. Fans will have to stay in tune every week to find out. The "Making the Band" finale premieres April 23 live on MTV.
