This party was also supported by Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, Orthodox Christian Fellowship, Golden Key International and other student organizations.
All together, the volunteers made approximately 32 blankets.
Members from both SG and Amnesty bought as many panels of fleece as they could afford with their budget and 32 was the numbers of blankets they could make.
"I think it's definitely a good turnout," said Jessica Strachan, Amnesty's president. "We have quite a few organizations here. I would say as many as 10."
The blankets will be distributed to the metro Detroit homeless shelters.
Volunteers all came for the same reason, to help out others.
"I heard about the event and figured I know how to make those blankets so I might as well go to have fun," said senior Erica Michael. "Plus it's for a good cause,"
"I think I made approximately three blankets today," said sophomore Nieko Ianni. ""I also worked on a bunch. I came because it's a good opportunity to help out others."
Amnesty also held a global hunger demonstration last Thursday.
At the demonstration, the organization offered an interactive simulation of the food distribution around the world. They also offered a brief reflection and light snack and refreshment.
