Most students only apply for scholarships when they first apply to college. However, the University of Michigan - Dearborn Offce of Financial Aid (FA) has a list of dozens of scholarships available to current students.
FA has released the list of scholarships that can be applied toward the 2009-2010 school year.
Students can apply for these awards online at FA's Web site, umd.umich.edu/index.php?id=240, by clicking on the "Current Students Scholarship Application" and filling out the printable application.
All applications for awards are due on or before Feb 2, 2009.
Students applying for a scholarship must be currently enrolled in a degree seeking program and have accumulated, before the application deadline, at least 12 credits if an undergraduate student, and at least 6 credits if a graduate student.
They must also have at least a 3.0 GPA, with the exception of a few of the available scholarships.
Students can apply to up to five different scholarships, as long as they meet the requirements of each individual award.
As part of the application, students must complete a statement of their academic and career goals, as well as a statement of need.
They must also supply estimates of their educational expenses and letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a UM-D faculty member.
For more information about the available scholarships, contact the Office of Financial Aid or visit their Web site.
