After more than a month of collecting, the Kits for Kids campaign came to an end last Thursday.

Kits for Kids was a campaign that various organizations on campus participated in to help Iraqi school-children attain an education. The campaign was to collect school supplies and send them to Iraq for distribution to the schools.

The organizations that came together to work on the project were the Chaldean American Student Association (CASA), Student Government (SG), Delta Sigma Phi, Muslim Students Association (MSA), Iraqi Students Association and the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF). Students for Ethical Investment also aided in the campaign.

"The drive was a success in that the first day we were able to raise almost $400, thanks to the generosity of the students and the dedication of the members of the various organization involved," President of CASA Sarah Qarana said. "I personally am so proud and honored to see my members working together with others on campus for a common goal that we believe benefits those most in need."

Unsharpened colored pencils, spiral notebooks and large erasers were among the various items donated by students.

"The campus did provide a great deal of support for the campaign," said student Eric Bacyinski, who helped out with the drive. "We extend our most heartfelt appreciation and thanks to all of our donors."

"As time progressed, the dedication and commitment that was shown was amazing and nothing short of awe inspiring," said Qarana.

The campaign will hopefully not stop with the University of Michigan-Dearborn, as the project will hopefully be continued.

"It is our goal and hope to expand the reach of the campaign into the greater Dearborn community," said Bacyinski .
