There is a definite national migration out west and Michigan students are sharing in this growth.

However, Michigan students are entering other states at record numbers. For three years in a row, Florida has seen 15-20% of outbound Michiganders heading for the Sunshine State. More students are finding success in Florida's market because of its diverse economy and strong job market.

Despite the harsh economic conditions facing Michigan today, the number of new college graduates hired by U.S. companies will be 17.4 percent larger this year than a year ago, according to a survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Pay levels are also likely to rise, with the average college graduate salary increasing 4.6%.

The reality is that Michigan graduates face an uphill battle. In order to stay here, they must be able to secure a job that tens of thousands of other hopefuls are looking to land as well. The outlook may look bleak, but for the time being relocation is crucial to any hope of success.
