There's a new pack coming to the University of Michigan-Dearborn and their target is students in uniform.
The "Wolf Pack" is a new student organization on campus that aims to give student support to the athletes that represent our university and go unrecognized. Sporting their Michigan letter jackets is not going to be the only way that athletes are going to get noticed now.
The Wolf Pack hopes to bring new enthusiasm and cheers to sporting events and will be giving the athletic teams some appreciation for what they do for the university.
"The Wolf Pack is the brain child of actually three students here at UM-D," Marc Sanko said. "Julia Stulock, athletics department intern, Steven Muncy and myself."
The Wolf Pack's main goal is to help support student athletes at sporting events by cheering and showing their school pride. "Well, one thing that almost every university has is a student support section for their athletic programs," Sanko said, "and this will give students something fun to do."
The Wolf Pack will be attending home games, as well as away games, to give support to student athletes.
"U-M has great athletics tradition and very devoted fans," Stulock, a junior psychology major, said. "We want to add to the legacy with the Dearborn campus' sports."
Anybody who is interested in becoming part of the Wolf Pack simply has to show up to athletic events dressed in Maize and be prepared to stand and cheer with fellow students.
"The sad thing is that very few students go to the sporting events and support their fellow students," Muncy, a business management student said. "The Wolf Pack is designed to change this."
Meetings for the Wolf Pack are still in progress, but are planned for at least once a month, if not every other week. "At the meetings, one rep from each sport will come together to discuss how each sport can support one another," Sanko said. "Then the meeting will be opened up to all students where we can all sit and discuss different cheers and ideas."
