"I really like coach [Pinkowski] and how she runs her team," Roberts said. "I'm excited to lead the floor and I can see us growing stronger as a team."

With this year being her first with the program, Pinkowski said she felt "exhausted" at various points of the season. After assistant coach Betty Combs stepped down midway through the season due to personal matters, Pinkowski was forced to recruit, scout and coach by herself.

But she didn't let it affect her goal of cashing in on some big-time players.

"I don't just go and get anybody," she said.

The next step is integrating the girls into the system. Come fall, the team should be ready to go, as the incoming freshmen already attended a Pinkowski-led practice last year and have begun to play leisurely with current Lady Wolves.

"I can't wait to play," Roberts said. "The girls are really nice and they have a lot of talent."
