Dave Chappelle is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best and underrated comedians out today. After many years of stand-up and doing various movies, the very cool actor has finally gotten a sketch show of his own entitled "Chappelle's Show" on Comedy Central.
If you're one of the few people who haven't seen Chappelle talk about the possibilities of Sesame Street characters getting high on crack and pimping on his stand-up special or his very funny weed-smoking experiences in the cult-classic (and my personal favorite) movie Half Baked, you owe it to yourself to watch this show and see what you're missing.
The first episode starts off in a hilarious fashion with a parody of those silly Eclipse car commercials with the girl break-dancing to that Dirty Vegas song.
Chappelle is driving in the car with the girl dancing, looks at her in disgust, asks her "What the f@#k are you doing?" and then kicks her out of the car.
Then an alternative version of the commercial comes on, except instead of the dancing girl, there's a booty shaking female who gets Chappelle happily dancing up and down in the car.
Another highlight of the show is a strange take on those stupid and corny training videos for certain retail jobs. Chappelle decided to do one on a copy-center that encourages their employers to NOT do what's required of them for good customer service.
This skit included actors Michael Raaport and Guillermo Diaz (Scarface from Half Baked) doing things like telling customers that they have to take a crap in the middle of a conversation and putting fake poop on their toilets so the customers won't ever come back again.
Other funny skits included one on singer Nat King Cole if he was exploiting women like a modern day hip-hop star, a self-portable court room typist to record bedroom conversations between couples and a long, outrageous sketch about Dave playing a blind white supremacist who is actually black and doesn't know it. You'll have to see it to fully understand.
The show overall is one of the funniest shows I've seen on cable in a good while and if every show is like this first one, "Chappelle's Show" is going to be that one show you gotta set time aside to laugh your butt off to.
