UM-D women's basketball struggle through mid-season

The University of Michigan-Dearborn Women's Basketball team extended their winless streak to 19 games last week, after dropping a pair of games to conference foes Concordia and Madonna. Back in November, the season started out with so much promise. The program had improved upon its previous season's record each year since 2003, several new transfer students were set to be impact stars, and injury-riddled players were finally healthy.

Men's basketball gets first conference win

The University of Michigan-Dearborn Men's basketball team won their first conference game on Wednesday, January 20 against Concordia University with a victory of 90-82. This now puts their season record at 1-5 ćin the conference and 4-16 overall. On Tuesday, January 19, they played a tough game against Indiana University-South Bend.

COLUMN: Making the call

A referee is defined as "a sports official usually having final authority in administering a game." according to Webster.com. At one time I thought it took skill and talent to be a referee, but after watching Detroit sports over the past several months I'm starting to wonder if that's actually the case.
