Last Monday all eyes were were focused on Roula Daher. With lights she described as "blinding with excitement," Daher, a junior at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, nervously recited her question to gubernatorial candidates Gov. Jennifer Granholm and Dick DeVos.

U-M Alumni Assn. offering students chance to job shadow

The University of Michigan Alumni Association is offering current students a unique opportunity to job shadow several successful alumni around the country. "Michigan Apprentice is a wonderful opportunity for students to network with fellow Wolverines and spend the day living their dream jobs," said Steve Grafton, president of the Alumni Association.

Arab-Israeli conflict in media sparks heated talk at UM-D

An open discussion was held Monday in the CASL building at the University of Michigan-Dearborn on the topics of media coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the media and social biases that exist in regards to Palestinians, Israelis, Muslims and Jews. A panel of three speakers gave facts and opinions on the subject and then answered questions and responded to comments from audience members.

Global Fest next Tuesday

The University of Michigan-Dearborn's 2006 Global Fest is scheduled to take place October 31. The event will run from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and will be located in the University Center, mainly in Kochoff Hall. The event is being coordinated by the Student Activities Office, with Corey Anderson, who is in charge of the campus' multicultural programs, as the main organizer.

With the Michigan gubernatorial election less than two weeks away, student opinion about the results is growing at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and in Ann Arbor. Although the race for governor appears to be a close one, many are talking about a different item on the ballot - Proposal 2.
