Danny Jamieson, one of the stars of MTV's "Real World:Austin" cast, took a few minutes out of his day to sit down with The Michigan Journal after speaking to hundreds of students in the University Center last Wednesday. The following are portions of the interview.
On Tuesday the Center of Arab American Studies (CAAS) screened two documentaries about Arab American Immigrants and how they raised their children in America. The event was held in the Social Sciences Building. With a different atmosphere than in their hometowns, these immigrants had to learn and adjust to the busy fast-paced society.
The Student, Staff, Administrators and Faculty for Equality (S.A.F.E) program at the University of Michigan-Dearborn held a session on Feb. 2 in room 1225 of the University Center. The S.A.F.E program is set to provide an avenue through which all people can actively show their support of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people.
Some say the game of football is like war - each side must use strategy to overcome the opposing side. On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the Army ROTC program hosted a Madden football tournament - a strategy to get their name out and possibly snag a few new members. The Student Activities Board brought in a local band that rocked the University Center on Thursday, Feb. 2. Over 60 students came down to the UC stage and heard the innovative local band Otto Vector. They played some beats and lyrics, getting the audience off their seats and clapping their hands.
