During a time when security is a priority throughout the United States, office security is somewhat lax on the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus. At least for those offices occupied by some student organizations, key distribution and collection is a serious concern.
The University of Michigan-Dearborn community united yesterday afternoon to bring relief to the victims of the tsunami. The reflection luncheon, sponsored by over 20 clubs and organizations, raised about $3,000 for the Red Cross. Student Government President Farhan Latif opened the luncheon by outlining the goals he wished to accomplish through the organization of the relief efforts.
The Student and Academic Affairs Committee, a sub-committee of the University of Michigan-Dearborn's Student Government, is currently trying to reach out to students in an effort to change the grading policies on campus. A petition is circulating and signatures are being collected in order to make a formal presentation to the administration.
Ethnic Diversity Day, the Winter semester version of Global Fest, is altering its format again this year. This thanks to careful observation and planning by Student Government, the event's sponsor. Compared with other local universities, the University of Michigan-Dearborn is the most expensive university per credit hour for residents attending undergraduate programs. They are the second highest in tuition per year. UM-D charges $228.80 per credit hour for lower division classes (under 300 level).
